The path to great fitness isn't just about workouts and nutrition; fundamentally, it is about making good decisions. While this may seem obvious, sometimes our minds play tricks on us, leading to decision-making errors that can affect our fitness journey.

Here are five common biases you might have encountered:

  1. Confirmation Bias: It's like wearing glasses that only show what you already believe. This can make us ignore helpful information that doesn't agree with our initial thoughts.

  2. Anchoring Bias: Relying too much on the first piece of information you get can steer you away from seeing other possibilities.

  3. Overconfidence Bias: Thinking we're always right, even when we're not. It's like believing your guesses are always perfect.

  4. Fundamental Attribution Error: Believing someone's actions show who they are, ignoring other things like their situation.

  5. Projection Bias: This is imagining our future selves will think and act just like we do now.

To avoid these pitfalls, being aware is key. Here are some tips:

  • Recognize Your Biases: Know these biases exist and accept that you might fall for them. This awareness is the first step.

  • Analyze Your Decisions: Take time to look at your choices. What were you thinking, feeling, and experiencing when you made that choice?

  • Consider Alternatives: Don't just stick to the first idea that pops up. Think about other options and possibilities.

  • Evaluate Confidence: Before acting on a decision, rate your confidence. If it's less than seven out of ten, take a step back and reassess.

  • Reassess and Reflect: If your confidence is low, redo the process. Dig deeper, reconsider the situation, and explore different angles before making a final call.

You can make more informed and effective fitness decisions by understanding these biases and applying these tips. It's not just about lifting weights or eating well — it's also about making smart choices along your fitness journey.

Chai Spiced Pudding

Chai Spiced Pudding

What You'll Need...

  • 1 cup / 240 ml unsweetened almond milk 

  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology 

  • 2 Tbsp. chia seeds

  • ½ tsp. ground cardamom (or ground cinnamon)

  • ¼ tsp. ground allspice (or ground nutmeg)

  • 1 small apple, chopped

  • 1 tsp. maple syrup

How to make it...

  1. Place almond milk, Shakeology, chia seeds, cardamom, and allspice in a small saucepot over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until gently boiling. Reduce heat to low.  

  2. Cook, stirring occasionally for 3 to 5 minutes, or until thickened. Remove from heat; cover. Let sit for 5 minutes.  

  3. Transfer to a serving bowl; top with apple and maple syrup. Serve immediately. 


Container Equivalents 1 Purple, 1 Red, 1 Orange, 1 tsp.
