Reflecting on over 20 years of helping women achieve success has highlighted the importance of these attributes for achieving results. Whether we focus on fitness, nutrition or mindset, with this in mind, here are my 5 top tips for improving your discipline.

  1. Define Clear Goals and Plans: Craft specific, achievable goals and develop a detailed plan. Clarity in objectives assists in outlining a structured routine, empowering commitment and focus.

  2. Consistency as a Practice: Embrace a steady schedule. Regularity in training routines fortifies discipline by forming habits and making adherence more routine and automatic.

  3. Build Willpower through Gradual Challenges: Gradually challenge yourself. Initiate with manageable tasks and progressively heighten difficulty. This progression builds resilience and fortifies willpower over time.

  4. Embrace Mindfulness and Focus Techniques: Incorporate mindfulness and focus exercises. Practices like meditation or breathing exercises enhance concentration, manage impulsivity, and strengthen discipline in training.

  5. Leverage Accountability and Support Systems: Engage with a supportive network. Sharing goals and progress with a mentor, training partner, or online community provides accountability motivation, and reinforces discipline.

Cultivating self-control and discipline in training routines empowers women for long-term success. Women strengthen their resolve and fortify adherence by adhering to a structured plan, maintaining consistency, and gradually expanding challenges.

Spinach Walnut Salad

Spinach Walnut Salad

What you'll need...

  • 4 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 Tbsp. red wine (or balsamic or rice wine) vinegar

  • Sea salt and ground black pepper (to taste; optional)

  • 1 (10 oz) package raw baby spinach (about 8 cups)

  • ¼ medium red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 medium carrot, cut into matchstick-sized pieces

  • 1 medium red bell pepper, cut in thin strips

  • 3 Tbsp. raw walnut pieces

How to make it...

  1. Combine oil and vinegar in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper if desired; whisk to blend. Set aside.

  2. Combine spinach, onion, carrot, bell pepper, and walnuts in a large bowl; mix well.

  3. Drizzle salad with dressing; toss gently to blend.
