Breaking Barriers For Health And Fitness Success

With over two decades of helping women build healthier habits and lifestyles, it is the start that stops most. As for many women, taking control of health and fitness is an uphill battle, often facing a host of perceived barriers such as...

“I don't have enough time”

“I am a single mum”

"I can’t afford to be healthier”

“I’m not fit enough to exercise”

These barriers, whether real or perceived, often have lasting effects. To help overcome these barriers and take control of your doubts, I've put together a list of my top 5 actions to overcome your obstacles to getting more active.

  1. Mindset Shift — Redefine Exercise and Activity: Change the perception of what constitutes exercise. Incorporate daily activities like walking meetings or gardening as part of your lifestyle.

  2. Prioritise Consistency Over Intensity: Focus on consistency rather than pushing for extreme workouts. Regular, moderate exercise has immense benefits and is more sustainable.

  3. Find Support and Accountability: Seek out support networks online or in person. Engage with like-minded individuals or groups, join classes, or enlist a workout buddy to boost motivation and accountability.

  4. Incremental Changes and Habit Formation: Small changes lead to big results. Start with tiny habits and gradually build upon them. Consistency in these changes leads to lasting habits.

  5. Diverse and Enjoyable Activities: Experiment with different activities. Find what resonates with you and brings joy. It could be dance, yoga, sports, or anything that keeps you engaged and motivated.

Overcoming barriers to participation in health and fitness is about redefining exercise, focusing on consistency, finding support, making gradual changes, and embracing diverse activities.

By taking control of habits and reshaping perspectives, we can embark on a journey of empowerment, adopting a sustainable and enjoyable approach to health and fitness. That will change our health and send ripples out to those around us, whether this is family or friends.

DOUBLE CHOCOLATE PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

What You'll Need...

  • 1 cup / 240 ml water

  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional)

  • 1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology

  • ½ scoop Beachbody Performance Chocolate Recover

  • ½ large banana, chopped, frozen

How to make it...

  1. Place water, ice (if using), Shakeology, Recover, and banana in blender; cover. Blend until smooth; serve immediately.

Container Equivalents: 1 1/2 Red, 1 Purple
